This was an existing restaurant within the (relatively) newly built landmark building that houses the W Hotel on Leicester Sq. B&L agreed to take over the space, but had to carry out the refurbishment very quickly as the hotel wanted it up and running. Due to this constraint, it was agreed to leave the general layout the same and use the existing infrastructure.
This two floor site, with large full height windows, was very demanding and we came up with lots of striking solutions which we demonstrated to the client but unfortunately were not adopted into the final design. These ideas would of closed down the interior, making it more private whilst giving the restaurant a huge street presence.
The lighting uses pendants over tables and concealed LED strips within the wine displays and the bar shelves to light product. By far, the stand out feature of the project was a large brass tube chandelier to tie in with the existing balustrade. This was to designed to appear that it was floating within the double height central core, forming the shape a lobster when viewed from certain angles.
