Nando's

Old Street, London

This was an exciting site for Nando's to take over in a busy part of Central London, with opportunities for a feature-some double height entrance and glass block flooring, the designers had some interesting ideas for some beautiful, dramatic lighting.

A stunning timber sphere wall covers the entire entrance down into the basement, with an internally lit glass block floor and ceiling leading through to a striking back-lit timber clad staircase taking you down into the basement where enormous polished black hemisphere pendants are suspended over party booth tables, creating the perfect cosy atmosphere.

The depth of the building and lack of natural light towards the rear of the restaurant meant the lighting was essential in maintaining brightness during the day and transforming into a moody, warm environment in the evening. A mixture of trimless recessed downlights and bespoke concrete, brass and fibreglass pendants achieved this.
